This was our first experience with a B&B.  After being in your cottage we’ll be using B&B’s again – hope they are as nice as this one!  The house is beautiful and comfortable.  Your taste in decorating is awesome.  The breakfast meals – outstanding.  Also the extra pastries (a real treat).  Thank you for allowing us to use your cottage as our own for these few days.

Kent and Debbie – November, 2015

Such a lovely stay here.  We enjoyed walking through the little quaint shops in nearby Shepherdstown.  And we loved, loved, loved Big Cork Winery.  It was such a great stay-cation from Hagerstown.  We had fun sister-bonding time.  Wonderful hospitality.  I can’t wait to tell all my friends and family about this hidden treasure right here at home.  I will be coming back for many more visits.  Thank you for sharing your home with us.  May God continue to bless your home and your family.

My daughter goes to a boarding high school nearby here, so I stayed for a really long time to visit her.  I really love spending time at Rose Cottage.  You and your husband are very friendly and considerate.  From the fresh flowers to the breakfast, everything you did made me feel comfortable.  I look forward to seeing you again.

This was my husband and my first B&B stay and we couldn’t be more happy and impressed by our choice.  Your house is absolutely gorgeous and most importantly clean.  I love the color scheme you chose for your rooms.  They are very calming and pleasant.  The food you provided for us was absolutely fantastic.  We have no doubt your B&B will be a successful business for years to come.  Thank you again and I hope we see each other again.

From the start to the very end the Rose Cottage has been an experience my boyfriend and I will never forget.  You are an amazing host whose obvious love of nature and people have made for a true oasis and escape.  Moments and places such as this are rare.  We cannot express enough how wonderful our time here has been.  From the fresh cut roses to the amazing breakfast spread, every detail was charming.  We hope to come again.

Rose Cottage is a little piece of heaven.  Your warm welcome made us feel at home.  The rooms are beautiful and comfortable.  The scenic views are breathtaking here.  Thank you for our delicious chocolate covered strawberries.  Breakfast was amazing – omelets, sausage, bread with homemade strawberry jam and much more.  It was a wonderful stay and we will be back.  All the best.

David and I had a wonderful stay here for two nights – perfect getaway from Arlington, VA and kids – a time to relax in a beautiful setting.  Thank you for your wonderful warm hospitality.  We had a great dinner on your porch with food from Rics as you recommended and a great bike ride when we rented bikes from Paddle n Pedal.  We will recommend you highly!

Captive Free Youth Encounter, East Lakes – April, 2015

We traveled here from D.C. to celebrate the Valentine’s Day weekend and were greeted with a warm welcome and heart-shaped cheesecake.  Our room was absolutely spotless and extremely spacious, which made us feel right at home.  Kathy got All the special details just right, including fresh flowers, homemade cookies, and a lovely breakfast.  We can’t wait for our next stay!

After staying at your bed and breakfast, I was especially touched by the amount of personal detail and professionalism that you displayed.  Starting out on what has been the adventure of a lifetime, I have a very fond memory of staying in Fairplay all thanks to you.  My visit to Antietam was nothing less than spectacular.  As I toured the battlefield, I became greatly moved in a way I had not expected.  Thank you so much!

Senior Airman Stephen – December, 2014

Kathy’s home is immaculate and she has impeccable taste.

The guest rooms are brand new each having its own en-suite full bathroom. They have a private entrance and there is a lovely separate sitting room just for the guests. This is the closest accommodations you will find to the historic Antietam Battlefield that hosts tours and re-enactments regularly.  Kathy and her family are the nicest people and boy do they know how to host!

We have had the wonderful opportunity to stay in Kathy’s cottage on several occasions. The setting is perfect, with beautiful gardens and very pleasing views.

The rooms are very comfortable and exquisitely decorated with attention to details. Kathy and her husband are both excellent cooks, and the food is always delicious whether it is a gourmet breakfast or a casual lunch! They are also both very friendly and welcoming. We would certainly recommend a stay to anyone!!

My husband and I spent one night at the Rose Cottage when we couldn’t find a B&B available in the Shepherdstown/Harpers Ferry area. It was a bit more out in the country, but a very short and easy drive from several nearby towns. The setting was beautiful, with gardens to enjoy and a lovely deck made available to us. The Rose Suite was very nicely decorated and super comfortable. It was quiet and private from the rest of the house. There were snacks available in the kitchenette, and a nice common room with games, TV, etc. Kathy was a delightful hostess. She was available for questions and had good recommendations for eating in the area. And best of all, she laid out a beautiful assortment of breakfast foods–more than we could possibly eat–of freshly made breads and pastries, jams, an assortment of fruits, yogurt, etc. She even set a very pretty table for two, and made a pot of decaf coffee especially for me. If it weren’t for our desire to finish our biking tour on the C&O, we could’ve stayed longer–this was a delightful place to be and I absolutely recommend it!

Kathy was a delightful host who made us feel at home from the start. I especially appreciated her recommendations of things to do around Fairplay, all based on our interests. Her guest room is impeccable, well decorated and clean. It has a separate entrance from the house, so you feel quite independent. It’s the perfect intimate setting for a weekend away. You can walk around the garden, drive to the C&O canal for a hike and a picnic.

But the best feature of the weekend was definitely the breakfast that Kathy served us. Her home-made pastries are delicious, the selection of fresh cut fruit and orange juice was awesome. Her attention to detail is wonderful, she even served me nutella as I’m European!
